MToT for the trainers and facilitators of different NFE programs

A twelve days MTOT training was organized on August 25 to September 5 2013 with support from UNICEF at hotel New Indreni, Nepalgunj. Altogether 21 trainers (9 female and 12 male) received the residential training from 8:30am to 5:00pm every day. Two facilitators (Mr Yuba Raj Laudari and Mr Paban K Adhikari) from Samunnat Nepal delivered the major TOT contents while Mr Danee Luhar from child protection delivered a session on Child protection and Ms Nirijana Bhatta with support from Mr Yuba Raj Laudari delivered a 3 days contents covering Aflatoun or financial literacy. There were guest resource persons from UNICEF child protection (Maija Liakka and Munir Mammadzade) to observe some of the sessions and also provided feedback on child protection issues, challenges and opportunities.

The MTOT training was organized in accordance of UNICEF’s plan to implement UOSP in different districts with the partnership of municipalities and local NGOs. As agreed with UNICEF country office, SAMUNNAT Nepal has developed a training curriculum for the training of trainers. The training contents with regards to the facilitators training, monitoring, materials development, child centered/child friendly classroom schedule with interactive and meaningful teaching activities were discussed and developed jointly with UNICEF (Education, ADAP and Protection Sections). The TOT model was developed so it can be applied to any municipality.

The MTOT contents were based on the UOSP curriculum with major focus on fundamental aspect of AEP, UOSP implementation modalities, process, child friendly and child centered concept and learning process, education philosophy, teaching learning techniques, classroom structure and management, CRC, learning with dignity, record keeping, child friendly learning materials and training facilitation skills, communication skills (questioning techniques, active listening skills), action research etc. In order to provide a holistic intervention, the Protection section of UNICEF delivered contents on child protection and the ADAP section included contents focused on Aflatoun which was the basis of social and financial literacy.
Objectives:
The training of trainers aims to develop master trainers that have the capacity to conduct UOSP facilitator's training through the knowledge, attitude and skills necessary to implement the training in their concerned municipalities.
